چکیده

Methods We retrospectively investigated 146 patients (131 men, 16 women; mean age, 67 years) with severe functional mitral valve (MV) insufficiency due to dilated cardiomyopathy that were operated on between 2004 till 2012. 35 pts were in New York Heart Association class IV and 102 were in class III. Most of pts had severe enlarged LV (mean end-diastolic size 73.7±7,1ml and volume 293 ±80ml) with depressed systolic function (mean ejection fraction – 26.1±5,6%). Concomitant procedures were tricuspid repair (139 pts) and atrial fibrillation ablation (32 pts). In 35 pts (24%) epicardial LV lead was fixed with subsequent CRT implantation during the same hospitalization. Mitral valve annuloplasty with different types of undersized ring were performed in 101 patients, and 45 had mitral valve replacement (in 6 pts mechanical and in 39 pts biological).

3D echocardiographic quantification in functional mitral regurgitation.

o a i “ l f o t i o Functional mitral regurgitation typically occurs in patients with ischemic cardiomyopathy or idiopathic dilated cardiomyopathy and is independently associated with excessive morbidity and mortality (1–8). In functional mitral regurgitation, it has been demonstrated that abnormal mitral valve kinematics result from a restriction of leaflet closure as a result of enhanced apic...

Long-term results of mitral repair for functional mitral regurgitation in idiopathic dilated cardiomyopathy.

OBJECTIVES While the results of mitral repair in ischaemic mitral regurgitation have been repeatedly reported, less data are available about the outcome of surgical repair of functional mitral regurgitation (FMR) in idiopathic dilated cardiomyopathy (iDCM) which represents the topic of this study. METHODS Fifty-four iDCM patients (mean age 63 ± 10.5 years) underwent mitral valve repair for se...

Mitral valve repair and redo repair for mitral regurgitation in a heart transplant recipient

A 37-year-old man with end-stage idiopathic dilated cardiomyopathy underwent an orthotopic heart transplant followed by a reoperation with mitral annuloplasty for severe mitral regurgitation. Shortly thereafter, he developed severe tricuspid regurgitation and severe recurrent mitral regurgitation due to annuloplasty ring dehiscence. The dehisced annuloplasty ring was refixated, followed by tric...

Surgical treatment for functional mitral regurgitation secondary to dilated cardiomyopathy: Current options and future trends

There is an increasing number of patients with mitral regurgitation secondary to dilated cardiomyopathy. Recent data suggest that mitral regurgitation (MR) can be surgically corrected in heart failure with symptomatic improvements and favourable reverse left ventricular remodeling. However, several questions remain to be answered, regarding the optimal management of functional mitral regurgitat...
